Everyone deserves healthy and affordable food. Our mission is to make sure Orlando has it.
Welcome to The Orlando Food Network, Sunrise Movement Orlando's dedicated team working to end food deserts in Orlando and ensure healthy, affordable food for all.
Our Mission
At Orlando Food Network, we’re fighting to end food deserts by building community gardens, connecting the community to pre-existing resources, and advocating for better local legislation.
Since we’ve begun, we’ve fundraised over $1,120 towards Orlando Food Network through markets, concerts and grants. Our community gardens will provide multiple benefits to the community, such as providing fresh produce, gardening knowledge, third spaces, and helping the environment.
Our end goal is to have a community garden in each Orange County district and assist in the transition of finding local committed volunteers to run them in the future. With your continued support, we can make this a reality.
What is a Food Desert?
A food desert is an urban area where people lack access to supermarkets and affordable, healthy foods, usually in low-income communities. People in these communities live more than one mile away from a supermarket; these areas are often filled with fast food chains and require a car to reach healthy and fresh food.
